‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’ — Acts 1:8

The 2019 International Leaders Gathering is a landmark occasion - for the first time we are holding it outside Australia in Bacolod, Philippines. Many times we are tempted to think that BMi Australia ‘condescends’ to help our ‘less fortunate’ brothers and sisters in other nations of the world, and this is what Jesus meant when He commissioned us to ‘Reach the Nations’. But this gathering is an opportunity for our Australian churches to witness firsthand the fruit of our BMi family across the globe, particularly in the Philippines. Perhaps we will come to the realisation that the Gospel of Christ holds the same power, regardless of where we are in the world, and that missionaries don’t just come from western countries. Perhaps we will be encouraged to think bigger, and have a wider global perception of BMi. Reaching the Nations has very little to do with our location, but everything to do with the power of the Holy Spirit to change lives all across the planet.

Pastors and spouses are welcome and again we invite each church to bring two senior leadership couples to share and participate in this opportunity. Conference sessions and accommodation will be at the very nice L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod, and our local hosts will be BMi Pastors Joe and Primrose Chavez and the team from City Harvest Church.

Program and costs

The official gathering will begin with dinner on Monday 3 June and conclude with an early lunch on Friday 7 June. The cost for registration, accommodation, all meals including morning and afternoon teas, and two afternoon bus excursions will be $390 per person (couple/twin share) or $570 per person (single/own room). Please note that twin share rooms (2 x single beds) must be arranged by the delegates themselves and indicated on the registration form.

Air travel

Philippine Airlines and relative newcomer Cebu Pacific both fly to Bacolod and offer various options at various costs, with Cebu being the cheapest. Qantas flies to Manila with the option for connecting flights to Bacolod. If you wish to hear the various stories that seasoned BMi Philippines travellers have experienced you may contact Darren Hessenberger, Kevin Donohue or Peter Frogley for advice. Otherwise a travel agent may be most helpful, or you can visit airline websites for bookings. Airport transfers are provided by the church and will add $20 per person to your registration fee.

Whilst the closing dates for registrations is Saturday 2 March 2019, we strongly recommend that you book flights and register before the close of the year. We will require your flight details with registration.

Early/extended stays

For those who wish to come early or extend their stay, L’Fisher Hotel has agreed to provide conference rates for any additional days ($92 per room including breakfast). Extra nights must be booked and paid with registration to achieve these rates. We must stress that delegates who come early or leave late will be responsible for ALL their meals and transport (excluding airport transfer) — because we certainly do not wish to be a burden to our Filipino brethren.

The gathering finishes with early lunch on Friday which allows ample time to return to Australia in time for Sunday 9 June.
